Son Tran, MD FASN

Dr. Son Tran joined Lincoln Nephrology and Hypertension in September of 2007. He earned a Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, in 1997 from Nebraska Wesleyan University. He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center – College of Medicine in 2002. He did his Internal Medicine internship and residency at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

In July 2005, he started his nephrology fellowship at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. During Hurricane Katrina, in August and September 2005, Dr. Tran was one of the team members at Tulane’s Medical Center who helped care for, as well as evacuate patients and their family members. After Katrina, he transferred to the University of California – San Francisco, and completed his Nephrology Fellowship there in 2007.

Dr. Tran is the medical director for the Dialysis Center of Lincoln – Southwest Unit. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He currently serves on the hospital staffs of Bryan Health, CHI Saint Elizabeth, Nebraska Heart Hospital, Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital and Specialty Select Hospital. His practice consists of hospital and office based consultative nephrology. His clinical interests include hypertension, glomerular diseases, acute kidney injury, electrolyte disorders, chronic kidney diseases and care of ESRD patients.

When not seeing patients, Dr. Tran enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, hiking, swimming and reading.
