Elizabeth Carthel, MD

Dr. Elizabeth Carthel received her undergraduate degree in physical therapy from Texas Tech University in 1991, and worked as a physical therapist for three years before deciding to go to medical school. She received her medical degree in 1998 from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. It was there that she met her husband, Jason and was married just before graduation. Dr. Carthel completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, and was chief resident during her last year there. After moving back to Texas, she concluded her nephrology fellowship in 2003 while attending the University of Texas Houston, and joined a nephrology practice in the Houston area. Dr. Carthel is board certified in Nephrology.

An invitation was extended to check out Lincoln Nephrology. She and her husband were impressed, and decided that Lincoln would be a good place to raise their very young daughter. They made the move to Nebraska in 2006, and now consider it home. Dr. Carthel loves to cook and as a family they enjoy vegetable gardening.
